Two state-of-the-art studios were planned for Live Point’s large facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) on the far-western outskirts of Dubai. One would be for live news and the other available for productions. Live Point wanted a flexible space that could be easily customised to fit a wide range of productions. While Live Point would oversee the gallery and audio construction, it required an experienced international partner that could deliver the installation and system integrations on the project in just 13 weeks.
Having been recommended to Live Point by a former employee, Gravity Media was tasked with completing the design, build and implementation of the studio into the Jafza facility. The fast-turnaround nature of the project required precise project management, as well as an in-depth knowledge of the latest production technologies, and access to the manufacturers of those cutting-edge solutions. Gravity’s SI team worked closely with SAM (now Grass Valley), which provided extensive local support on the project. One of the standout innovations within the studio was the implementation of the new Grass Valley MV-820 multiviewer and Vega router with embedding and debedding capabilities. The build also included the deployment of five Ikegami HDK-97A HD/3G multi-format cameras, along with super wide-angle lenses, a Grass Valley Kula production switcher, Vizrt graphics system and ARRI SkyPanel lighting.
Live Point’s new studio was operational within just 13 weeks, delivered by Gravity Media on time and on budget. Zaher Rehawi, Engineering Manager at Live Point responsible for the build out and installation of the new studios commented: “The infrastructure is ready in every way but there is no decoration. So, we can make the decoration how the customer needs.” Nabil Eslim, Operations and Production Manager for Live Point Studios added: “Both studios are fully equipped with high tech equipment and construction design. Within these studios we can provide all services in media production. Both of the studios in JAFZA are fully equipped so that we can produce documentaries, general entertainment programs and even talk shows.”
