The 17th Annual Nanga Mai Awards was hosted on 30 November 2022 at the Sydney Opera House. The Nanga Mai Awards ceremony celebrates and recognises Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal teachers, other departmental staff, Aboriginal community members and schools that demonstrate excellence across a diversity of areas. The awards are organised by the Aboriginal Outcomes and Partnerships Directorate within Education and Skills Reform, NSW Department of Education. Nanga Mai is a Sydney Language word meaning ‘to dream’.
In previous years the ceremony has been hosted remotely via Live Stream at the Gravity Media Production Centre in Sydney.
Gravity Media worked with the NSW Department of Education to provide production and post production services for this 2 hour Awards Ceremony. The ceremony included an Acknowledgement of Country from students, guest speakers from NSW schools, the NSW Department of Education and partners from the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Incorporated, along with student dance and musical performances. Gravity Media was able to provide a fast turnaround edit to meet the needs of the client.
The 17th Annual Nanga Mai Awards 2022 ceremony is available to watch on the NSW Department of Education website and was distributed to hundreds of schools across NSW. Watch Awards Ceremony
