The Vans US Open of Surfing

What we did

Covering the world’s largest action sports event takes special preparation, especially since the Vans US Open of Surfing – held annually in Huntington Beach, California – also includes skateboarding and BMX competitions. Since it was Gravity Media’s tenth visit, our teams had everything covered.

What we used

Set ups differed slightly for each event, but our teams stayed mobile with Hitachi SK1200 cameras, Sony RF auto-follow cameras and wireless FreeSpeak beltpacks – all backed by full control suites and post-production facilities.

Outcome

As well as keeping a record 25 cameras broadcasting live every day on Fox and streaming worldwide, we also supplied all wireless communications and audio complement throughout the week-long event.
