ESG

We’re getting even better.

The work we do behind the camera plays a major role in the quality of our performance and our delivery.

We are committed to implementing an ESG strategy that creates long-term value for our business, our stakeholders and wider society, whilst sustainably enhancing our natural resources for future generations.

Initially focusing on the areas of inclusive recruitment, workplace accessibility, education and mentoring, along with remote production workflows and renewable resources to improve our green credentials, we are enforcing initiatives for better business values. The work we present highlights our actions, and how we intend to grow with you and develop your projects. Our efforts are unified and of mutual interest to the direction we want to see the industry grow.

Gravity Media is a MAMA Youth Project Corporate Sponsor.

MAMA Youth is an award-winning charity, established in training young people from traditionally under-represented backgrounds and helping them find jobs in the broadcast and media industries. It is recognized as one of the top diversity-focused companies in Europe and has 10 years’ experience in championing talent and sharing best practice across the industry.

We work with the MYP recruitment team to utilize their talent pool on any suitable roles that are advertised, particularly around our new state-of-the-art Production center, in White City.

Gravity Media also supported MYP with the launch of their inaugural Digital Media Training program – an eight-week intensive course, in Manchester, for aspiring creatives outside of the UK’s capital.

MYP are further educating our team about unconscious bias in the workplace; how to be more aware of these behaviors and influencing office culture for the better.

Our University Partners: Portsmouth, Solent and Surrey

Educating the next generation of talent is very important to us. We are active members in our communities, showcasing opportunities across the business for individuals to access and take part.

‘Working on the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 with Gravity Media was such an exciting initial experience in the TV & Broadcast industry. I was trained on broadcast studio cameras and given responsibility to test and repair the camera equipment. I was also taught how to terminate a variety of connector/cable types and I cut and terminated hundreds of 75Ω coaxial cable with BNC connectors for transporting SDI video within/between the server racks at Qatar’s 8 stadiums.

A few months later, a University assignment required my cohort to build an IP video network. In preparation, I spoke several colleagues about ways this could be achieved and was allowed to take equipment from the warehouse and start experimenting. I was able to setup several systems which I proposed to my University lecturers. The knowledge I learnt from my colleagues and whilst experimenting with equipment enabled my cohort to quickly troubleshoot and resolve problems with the network we built at university as I had gained experience with the concepts and equipment we were using at work.

I really appreciate how supportive all my colleagues are with helping me learn any concept I pursue, both in-line with my university studies and with extracurricular concepts. I’m encouraged and given the resources to explore equipment and dive into unfamiliar concepts which I find is a fun and effective way to learn.’

Broadcast & Media Systems Engineering Apprentice

‘Having previously completed a Higher National Certificate in Electrical / Electronic engineering with my previous employer, I was looking for a new challenge which would further both my skills and education. This opportunity was presented when I saw Gravity Media taking applications for their brand-new Broadcast Engineering & Media Systems Degree apprenticeship in collaboration with Ravensbourne University London. After researching the company and university I saw both were held in high regard within the industry, and being a keen sports fan was keen to apply…

Summing up Gravity in a few words is hard, as the opportunities & support they have given me has been wide ranging. Knowing our slogan of ‘Capture, Craft, Create’, I think there could be room for a fourth, Collaborate. Whether collaborating with clients to achieve their goal, or collaborating with my fellow more experienced engineers to solve a problem, it all comes down to the willingness of everyone to work together and share knowledge.’

Engineering Apprentice

‘I visited my university, Solent University, after being invited by the BA Sports Journalism course leader Will Cope. I graduated from this course in 2018, and also graduated from the MA Sports Broadcast course in 2019. The purpose of the “Meet the Grads” program is for Solent Alumni to come in and talk to first years on the course, about the industry, our jobs and journeys.

For me it was important to participate (in the program) because I remember when I was a first year; it was eye-opening and helpful to hear about the industry…and also the different journeys of former students. (I want students) to understand there’s numerous paths that lead to the right job for you.’

Success Stories

Our ground-breaking remote production solution for the Formula E Series received two notable accolades. The first being the prestigious CSI Award for ‘Best Remote or Virtual Production’  and the second, ‘Best Use of Remote Production’ at Broadcast Tech Innovation Awards.

Gravity Media set new frameworks for remote broadcast technology and incentivised a more sustainable approached to the Formula E Championship Series. With working broadcast ‘pods’ sent to all race courses around the globe, these custom-built pods enable remote feeds to be sent back to our broadcast center in The WestWorks Facility in London.

As well as offering huge commercial value, this remote workflow has highlighted a substantial reduction in onsite complications around connectivity and network latency in hard-reaching zones. Less crew and kit are required onsite, dually improving the impact the sport has on the environment and unlocking new creative potential with access to state-of-the-art facilities.

Our Future Mission

We are committed to being a model of sustainability, upholding ethical conduct, integrating environmental stewardship, and social responsibility in all our operations and endeavors.
Reducing Emissions

A near term 10 year target aligned to the Science-Based Target Initiative , underpinned by a detailed emissions reduction plan that will focus on transport, energy consumption and supply chain engagement. Once underway, our focus will turn to developing a longer term net zero target to be achieved by 2050 at the latest.

Supply Chain Engagement
Our supply chain is a vital partner in supporting our ESG goals. We are proactively working towards improving our data quality for Scope 3 emissions so that we can collaborate with our vendors to collectively reduce our environmental impact. Our ethical procurement policies and procedures will remain a priority to ensure we work with partners who align to our ESG commitment and values.
Promoting Diversity & Inclusion

We recognize the value that diverse talent brings to our organization, enriching our perspectives, driving innovation, and fuelling our collective success. To further advance our commitment, we will actively promote diversity, equality, and inclusion across our workforce and beyond. This includes setting clear targets to address the underrepresentation of certain groups within different business functions and levels of seniority. Moreover, we understand that inclusive behavior is paramount to creating a workplace where everyone feels a sense of belonging and is empowered to thrive.
