ROLE OVERVIEW

The Post-Production Engineer role is responsible for the delivery of edit suites, networked storage infrastructure and related post-production facilities to major production companies and motion picture clients around the world. This is a senior engineering position with both planning and operational elements. This role will be the main point of contact for our operations and technical teams for scoping and designing post-production systems and to take the lead on deployment.

This role will be primarily based in the Disney Studios Australia site but may be required to work at various other locations from time to time, as required by the Company.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Day to day management and maintenance of the Gravity post facility at Disney Studios Australia, as well as other post facility locations when required;

Manage and provide on-going assistance with internal and external stakeholders’ technical workflows;

Oversee the preparation of equipment and planning of post projects to ensure effective delivery and performance;

Assist with regular checks on equipment to ensure quality, working condition and presentation is maintained at all times. This includes routine testing, fault finding, ongoing preventative maintenance and upgrade plans, coordinating equipment repairs, as well as replacing or providing alternatives to achieve project delivery;

Provide system support to address technical faults with dry hired systems and support the workflow teams where required on post integrations;

Monitor and optimize the performance of current technology. This includes the evaluation of new software and hardware;

Forecast the utilization and provide recommendations on effective deployment of capitol to grow the post-production business;

Guide technical operators and production staff through operational scenarios with clear handover documentation;

Provide training and mentorship to members of staff to support their development within post production;

Develop a close working relationship with all stakeholders, responding to all enquiries within a reasonable timeframe, ensuring strong lines of communication and fostering a reputation for professionalism and service for yourself and the Company; and

Assist outside broadcast and production center teams with post production equipment setup, maintenance and operations

Work collaboratively with the post production account management team and to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standard

analyze current business practices, identify areas of improvement and liaise with all relevant stakeholders to develop and implement procedures to increase efficiency and profitability.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • At least 2 Years experience in an Post Production technical support or similar role
  • Administration and maintenance of Avid Media Composer environments
  • Understanding of production terminology and workflows in television and feature film
  • Mac and PC system provisioning and administration

  • ACSR Qualifications
  • Adobe Suite administration
  • Troubleshooting IP Networks
  • Project / Change management – Planning and coordination, determining resourcing and budgets for projects and determine status updates and prioritization in accordance with risk level
  • Customer support skills
  • System monitoring and remote management toolsets.
  • Storage and archive management

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized
  • Excellent writing skills, specifically within a bid writing/tender context.
  • Technical documentation skills
  • Ability to use Excel to manipulate data both for data analysis, and for presenting the data in other formats.
