Amazon MGM Studios is proud to unveil A Very Royal Scandal, a highly anticipated three-part British television drama, which was recently released on September 19, 2024, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Julian Jarrold and written by Jeremy Brock, this gripping series stars Michael Sheen as Prince Andrew and Ruth Wilson as acclaimed journalist Emily Maitlis, diving deep into the lead-up, execution, and aftermath of their groundbreaking 2019 BBC interview on Newsnight.
This dramatic retelling follows Maitlis’ personal and professional journey leading to the explosive interview that forever altered the public perception of Prince Andrew. The series examines not only the intense media scrutiny surrounding the Duke of York but also the broader impact on both Maitlis and Prince Andrew’s lives.
Joining the talented cast are Joanna Scanlan as Amanda Thirsk, Alex Jennings as Sir Edward Young, Éanna Hardwicke as Stewart Maclean, and Claire Rushbrook as Sarah Ferguson. Newly announced cast members include Nicholas Burns as Mark Gwynne, Lydia Leonard as Esme Wren, Alexander Owen as Jake Morris, Clare Calbraith as Sam McAlister, Sam Troughton as Donal McCabe, Honor Swinton Byrne as Princess Beatrice, and Sofia Oxenham as Princess Eugenie.
Over the period of 28 weeks, our team at Gravity House, London housed the Director and editing team across two suites.
The series, produced by Blueprint Television for Amazon MGM Studios, will be distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Television.
