UEFA Euros 2020

Champions of Europe.

The UEFA European Football Championship, commonly known as the UEFA Euros, is the primary football competition contested by the men’s national teams of the members of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). Held every four years, it is the second most watched football tournament in the world after the FIFA World Cup. Euro 2016 was watched live on TV by 2 billion people worldwide, with the final alone attracting around 600 million globally. Due to COVID-19, Euro 2020 will be played from 11 June to 11 July 2021.

Gravity Media has a long tradition of supporting the Euros, with UEFA calling on our broadcast and production solutions for each of the past four tournaments, starting with Euro 2004 in Portugal. Those engagements have seen us provide a range of specialist services, from delivering multiple Technical Operations Centres (TOCs) looking after signal distribution and monitoring, to providing the broadcast infrastructure and cabling at host-city stadium redevelopments. We’ve also pioneered innovative hybrid remote production solutions for international football tournaments, deployed most recently at the 2019 Women’s World Cup – a multi-award-nominated production that broke new ground in sports broadcasting.
Gravity Media also has a rich history in providing special camera and EVS slow-motion operations installations at key locations. These facilities are responsible for receiving feeds from helicopter and drone cameras, in-goal cameras, handheld RFs and the venue ‘beauty’ shots located high above each stadium. Meanwhile, we also handle RF distribution for commentary and information systems, as well as providing the racks and monitoring for the onsite EVS replay areas that house all of the servers used for live production.
Indeed, live coverage in football is where many of Gravity Media’s diverse capabilities come together, from consultancy, planning and design, to engineering, pre-production, logistics and crewing. At every stage of an assignment, we provide the kit, the people and the experience to ensure the project achieves its goals. This includes live broadcast and streaming services, fast-turnaround highlights and full-time edits, along with scripted, voiced and ready-to-air highlights programmes at the end of each match-night. Euro 2020 will be the first European Championship being held across the continent, with 11 host cities in 11 different countries. We look forward to working with UEFA and its broadcast partners again, supporting what will undoubtedly be one of the biggest sporting events of the year.
