Hockey

Stick it to them.

The game of field hockey is played widely in over 100 countries, and is the second-largest team sport in the world.

It’s also a favourite among staff here at Gravity Media, and we’ve worked with the sport’s governing body and on individual matches and tournaments to help ensure this fast and furious sport gets the status and popularity it deserves.

Our work with the International Hockey Federation (FIH), includes helping the client respond to an ever-increasing demand for high-quality digital output from all of its events worldwide. By combining live-streaming services from The Production Centre in London with a state-of-the art digital archive service, Gravity Media has been able to provide the FIH with a cost-effective and robust solution to suit its growing needs.
Hockey also lends itself to REMI/‘At Home’ production – an operationally flexible, modern and durable workflow that’s high in quality and cost-efficient to deploy. Small, purpose-built mobile units are despatched to the event venue, with only video and audio acquisition hardware being required onsite. Engineered cameras, microphones, comms hardware and transmission interface are set up and supported on location, but all the video switching, audio mixing, graphics, replays and show production are done ‘at home’ at the broadcast centre.
Gravity Media is a particular specialist in these environmentally friendly and resource-efficient solutions, having supported well over 2,000 REMI productions in the US alone. Having fewer staff travel to the event location generates secondary benefits too; with no lost days spent travelling, key personnel are available for more work on consecutive days, and can be deployed on specialist assets such as telestrators and advanced graphics tools back at the Production Centre.
