Gravity Media, a world leading global provider of complex live creative production and media services, today confirmed its partnership with National Indigenous Television (NITV) to deliver live all-screens coverage of the 2025 Koori Knockout, one of Australia’s most iconic indigenous rugby league events.

The annual Koori Knockout, now in its 53rd year, will take place over the October long weekend in New South Wales and will once again bring together teams from across NSW and beyond, with a record 170 teams in 2025.

In collaboration with NITV, Gravity Media will provide the full outside broadcast and technology solution to deliver the live broadcast from Riverside Sporting Complex in Tamworth on Kamilaroi Country, continuing its long partnership covering one of the biggest indigenous gatherings in Australia.

Gravity Media will deploy its HD7 outside broadcast truck, integrating a 10 camera set-up with RF, Super Slow Motion, plus aerial drone coverage. A digital Satellite News Gathering (SNG) truck will carry signals from the regional location back to NITV in Sydney, while hosting and commentary facilities will be supplied on-site.

Coverage will include 16 matches across the final two days, culminating in the prestigious men’s, women’s and junior’s finals on Monday.

The 2024 Koori Knockout drew tens of thousands of attendees, with Walgett Aboriginal Connection defeating Nanima Common Connection in the Men’s Grand Final, fielding NRL stars including Ben Barba, Joel Thompson and Tyrone Peachy.

Gravity Media’s production will deliver hours of live broadcast each day across Sunday and Monday from 9am AEST on NITV and SBS On Demand.

Benjamin Smith, Executive Producer – Sport at NITV, commented:

“The Koori Knockout is an incredible celebration of culture, community, and the immense talent within First Nations rugby league. Gravity Media are trusted partners of NITV, and their deployment of a sophisticated broadcast solution ensures we deliver a production that honours the importance and significance of this event. For NITV, a small channel with a big heart, delivering a high-quality broadcast is vital for our audience; it showcases the passion and skill that defines the Knockout in a way that truly respects its cultural significance. The Knockout is a significant undertaking and not something we could achieve without Gravity’s expertise and resources. It’s a collaboration that ensures all Australians can witness this powerful gathering and celebrate the achievements of our mob.”

Nigel Naseby, Account Manager – Media Services & Facilities at Gravity Media, said:

“Gravity Media is thrilled to deliver significant technology and production services in partnership with NITV. We’re committed to delivering high-quality, compelling coverage of the Koori Knockout in Tamworth with extensive camera coverage and a state-of-the-art outside broadcast truck.”
