Gearhouse Broadcast and Belden partner to cut SMPTE fibre lead time

Broadcast services specialist to hold pre-built cable stock ready for delivery.

Gearhouse Broadcast is to hold stock of Belden’s pre-built SMPTE fibre camera cable in a move that will significantly cut lead times that outside broadcast companies are currently facing.

With the wait for delivery usually between four to six weeks, this new partnership will see Gearhouse stock Belden’s SMPTE fibre, complete with Lemo connectors in lengths of 50m, 100m, 150m and 200m, ready to ship worldwide as soon as an order is placed.

“The current lead times that OB companies are being quoted for fibre can be prohibitive when it comes to planning. Having pre-made cable in stock and ready to ship, they can now be more flexible to late requests,” said Kevin Fitzgerald, sales manager at Gearhouse Broadcast. “We use Belden’s products daily for many of the projects we work on and view them as the pre-eminent cable supplier, so we’re delighted to be able to offer this new service which delivers such a respected product into the field quicker than ever before.”

“Gearhouse is a perfect partner due to its global footprint, market position and experience of working with us on other projects” said Brian Halton, Sales Manager Enterprise Connectivity EMEA at Belden. “With the huge demand for our SMPTE fibre, the fact that finished assemblies are available off the shelf at Gearhouse ready for immediate delivery to its customers is great news for the industry.” Gearhouse Broadcast is exhibiting at IBC2014 on stand B39 in Hall 10 and will be showcasing an updated model of its game-changing, fully-equipped, live production OBLite HD trailer, as well as other new innovative broadcast solutions.
