JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for a skilled Live Studio Graphics Operator to join our team to generate in-game GFX overlays, lower thirds, countdowns (etc.) across live broadcasts for League of Legends and Valorant events (among others). As a key member of the Gravity Media production team stationed within Riot Games facility, the Graphics Operator will prepare and execute immediate GFX requests while working as part of a high performing team in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. They will work with the very latest graphics software which will help you to ensure the global GFX output is of the highest quality.

The ideal candidate will need to be a clear and confident communicator, able to adapt quickly to on-air changes and remain calm under pressure. Their aim will be to ensure each graphic is accurate and displayed in a timely manner and informs viewers and audiences from all around the world.

Having an eye for detail, keeping track of team/player scores, and being flexible to edit graphics live as games develop is key.

In this role, the Graphics Operator will be an integral part of the organization’s Graphics Department and will report to the Service Delivery Manager. The position is based in the greater Seattle area. The position may require travel on occasion.

The successful candidate will be assigned as on-site Gravity staff embedded at the Riot Games remote broadcast center. They will work across the live esport broadcasts focusing on championships and tournaments from around the world. The Graphics Operator will be working with the latest technology in one of the most advanced remote broadcast centers in the world.​

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accessing GFX elements and running tests to ensure smooth on-air presentation.
  • Building of source graphics in our software packages which include Barracks and Vizrt.
  • Creating show assets workflows to aid a more efficient broadcast.
  • Creating welcome ‘deck’ presentations for visiting crew with local information.
  • Playing GFX calls in a timely and ‘live’ setting.
  • Monitoring scoring and keep a track to forward plan leader boards etc.
  • Working closely with other departments – Audio, EVS, etc. to ensure any replay packages have the correct GFX and any grams etc hit the correct ques.
  • Supplying various GFX outputs for other departments/feeds/sponsors etc.
  • Reviewing GFX packages and calls.
  • Creating post show documentation highlighting any tasks or issues from Graphics.
  • Refining next day workflows from Producer/Director feedback.
  • Loading and prepping for next day’s broadcast.
  • Updating and maintaining all SOPs and contribute to new SOPs and the sharing of business/skill knowledge.
  • Perform other job-related duties and projects as needed and assigned.

This position will have access to a live event gallery and, as such, must be treated with great integrity. Professional and best practice behaviors in this role are essential at all times.

EXPERIENCE PROFILE

  • Experience in a traditional broadcast gallery GFX setting.
  • Experienced in working with Adobe Creative Suite and other software.
  • Basic knowledge of video editing software preferable.

  • Time management and how-to prioritize workload and asks.
  • Key communicator – can listen and understand requests without the need for asks to be repeated.
  • Multitasker – have the dexterity to manage the GFX software and follow show running order while using the talkback panel to communicate with the Director to animate GFX calls etc.
  • Willingness to learn outside your comfort zone and immerse yourself in learning new technology and software.
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Google business apps.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to sit, reach outward or above the shoulder, stand, walk, handle with fingers, stand, bend, and stoop.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard, view a video display terminal screen.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and overnight.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and push or pull up to 25 pounds.
