Gravity Media, a world leading global provider of complex live creative production and media services, today detailed the broadcast technology and television production undertaking that sees Gravity Media Australia working with the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia and the Seven Network to produce and deliver the complete television broadcast production for the start of the iconic Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race from Sydney Harbour on Boxing Day.

This will be Gravity Media Australia’s 18th year as the broadcast and technology partner for the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

A diverse fleet, including multiple former winners, will take on the 78th running of the 628 nautical mile Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race with 113 boats entered for the world famous race.

Four 100-foot maxis will likely vie for Line Honours this year: four-time winner Andoo Comanche which took Line Honours in 2022 and holds the race record of 1 day, 9 hours, 15 minutes, and 24 seconds as LDV Comanche for Jim Cooney and Samantha Grant (2017), Law Connect, which placed second last year and won the John H Illingworth Challenge Cup as first across the line back in 2016 as Perpetual LOYAL, SHK Scallywag, and Wild Thing 100, the recently modified Botin 80 Stefan Racing.

Gravity Media Australia will create and produce the complete telecast including on-board cameras on maxis Andoo Comanche and SHK Scallywag, along with on-water chase boat cameras and live helicopter and drone camera coverage.

Hosted by Sunrise’s Mark Beretta, the Rolex Sydney Hobart commentary team on Seven will be bolstered by Peter Shipway, a veteran who boasts more than 30 Sydney Hobart Yacht Races; Jimmy Spithill, an

America’s Cup and Rolex Sydney Hobart Line Honours winning skipper; and Olympic Silver Medallist, Lisa Darmanin.

Coverage of the start of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race across 7mate, Seven and 7plus commences at 12:30pm AEDT on 26 December.
