Gamescom 2019

Last week saw Gravity Media’s debut at Gamescom 2019, the premier event for anyone who’s in the exciting gaming and eSports world. As the only broadcast media house to exhibit, we were delighted to build relationships with leaders across the eSports spectrum ranging from tournament and event organisers, eSports arenas to publishers, music publishers and professional teams.

We made valued connections as far afield as Singapore, Turkey and Kenya to share our expertise and thought-leadership on the direction of eSports broadcast technology working hand-in-hand with the gaming technology as a seamless workflow to boost the viewer experience both in-venue and on streaming platforms. Manufacturers are starting to develop dedicated eSports kit across all aspects of an arena event to help innovate the experience and we’re at the forefront of gaining feedback within the industry.

An estimated 370,000 visitors made the trip to the Koelnmesse in Cologne across the five days of Gamescom; three of which were open for trade visitors. Teams from Gearhouse Broadcast UK, France and Germany joined together to talk to clients and contacts about our experiences in the eSports industry since its inception and the future direction of what is currently a very in-trend topic in the wider entertainment space gaining regular column space in top-tier media publications.

Gravity Media companies have been active in this market since day one, having been the first production company ever to work out how to bring a game into a TV workflow – including overcoming the challenge of region-specific encoding. Ever since, we’ve been an integral part of what continues to be an incredible success story with significant prizes funds up for grabs for the players involved, supporting the likes of ESL, FACEIT, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Riot Games, Blizzard and Electronic Arts at some of the biggest live gaming & eSports events on the planet. Long may it continue.
