Like it or loathe it, there’s no escaping the 2018 FIFA World Cup. A total of 64 matches will be played in 12 venues across 11 Russian cities this summer, which will see TV remote controls around the world commandeered for four full weeks from 14 June.
In support of live coverage of every game across the BBC and ITV, we’ve delivered 12 x EVS ChannelMAX Servers, 18 x XTAccess, 6 x IPDirector’s, 2 x EVS XFile3s, and a pair of DB servers to our long-standing customer, NEP, on location in Russia.
Working closely with NEP, we’ve designed a live workflow solution to capture every moment, offering multiple live feeds, seamless coverage of every kick of the ball for the whole month…
Although if England’s past performances are anything to go by, we’ll be able to pack up and come home by the end of the month.
The World Cup is just one of many crown jewel football projects we support. This year, as well as working on a number of Premier League games, we were onsite at Wembley again for the FA Cup Final between Manchester United and Chelsea. We supplied 3 x Avid Media Composer systems to capture all the action live on BBC One – although the Red Devils fans will have wanted to look away on 22 minutes. Roll on August for the start of the new season.
