VIVID Sydney 2022

Australia

Destination NSW

What we did

Gravity Media was selected by Destination NSW (DNSW) to provide broadcast services for the opening of VIVID Sydney 2022. VIVID Sydney “First Light” Welcome to Country ceremony and performance officially opened the festival and is a powerful acknowledgment and celebration of Australia’s First Nations culture. The event culminates with the official turning on of the lights featuring the stunning backdrop of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the iconic Sydney Opera House.

What we used

Gravity Media’s ROVA HD production truck provided the core of our facilities, with three (3) cameras, including a 7m techno jib located in the event precinct and a fourth RF camera located on the north western boardwalk of the Sydney Opera House. This camera was used to capture the scenes around the event and the finale when all the lights of Vivid Sydney, including on the Harbour Bridge were triggered by the NSW premier. Gravity Media supplied all production crew, director, and floor managers to ensure a smooth facilitation and production. To supplement vision for the crowd which had amassed for First Light, Gravity Media provided a 6 x 3m trailer mounted LED screen. The event vision was broadcast throughout the Light Walk on existing screens and streamed to the DNSW VIVID Sydney website.

Outcome

With a fantastic, clear night, excellent cultural dancing form many of the different first nations peoples and the turning on of the lights, the crowds around the precinct were elated to be part of the return of a great event after two years. Our team created a fantastic broadcast for our client and everyone had a great time bringing this moment to life!
