What we did

At the striking 40,000-seat Al Rayyan Stadium in Doha, we were contracted to install broadcast-ready cabling with the requirement the facility be suitable for legacy use after the 2022 football World Cup.

What we used

Working with sports broadcasters Al Kass and beIN Sports, we ensured the design would support the multi-purpose nature of the facility, at the same time as catering for the stadium’s main event: seven World Cup matches up to the round of 16 stage. The system comprises 66 wall boxes, with the required 150km of cable including Triax, SMPTE hybrid fibre, audio and single-mode fibre.

Outcome

The Al Rayyan stadium was the fourth Qatar 2022 tournament venue to open, and will ultimately become the new home of Al Rayyan Sports Club once the World Cup carnival has moved on. The project took one year to complete, delivered by our own team of cable installation experts, and managed through our local office in Doha. With the surrounding area also being transformed into a regional sporting hub, where locals and visitors will be able to enjoy six football training pitches, a cricket pitch, horse riding track, cycling track, gym equipment and an athletics track. Here at Gravity Media, we look forward to the upcoming tournament fixtures set to take place in this iconic stadium.
