Based primarily at our Watford office, the Server Engineer will be responsible for preparing, planning and delivering all the server component related aspects of our bespoke fly away projects. As part of our server department, the Server Engineer will also be a key part of a team entrusted with delivering networks of EVS servers and Post Production facilities to our major broadcast clients across the world. This position will also require regular, world-wide travel, to this end, a current and valid passport is essential.

The Role

Based primarily at our Watford office, the Server Engineer will be responsible for preparing, planning and delivering all the server component related aspects of our bespoke fly away projects. Responsibilities

The Server Engineer will:

• Prepare, plan and deliver server technical operations for Fly-away projects

• Work closely with our Rental, Assets, Engineering, and Maintenance teams

• Help maintain equipment and develop relationships with manufacturers

• Investigate and deliver solutions for client requirements from planning to delivery

• Develop and maintain workflows to ensure effective delivery and operation of each project

• Provide system support to address technical faults in a timely manner

• Support and train the server engineering team and mentor junior and scholar staff. z

• Have the ability to prioritise and delegate tasks, working both alone and as part of a team

Qualifications

Essential:

• Previous experience with:

o Rigging and de-rigging server and workflow fly-away outside broadcast equipment

o Technical report writing and drawings using CAD, Visio or LucidChart

• Proficient as an EVS XT LSM operator:

o Replay o Presentation

o Co-ordination

• Proficient in managing the Adobe CC Suite of applications:

o Premiere, Media Encoder, Prelude, After Effects

o Broadcast editing experience

• Proficient with Cisco Catalyst, Nexus and SG Series switching fabric

o Demonstrate understanding and experience with OSI model, TCP-IP and UDP

o Demonstrate knowledge of Cisco CLI & GUI interfaces

o Demonstrate experience of designing/implementing switched and routed networks

o An understanding of access/trunk ports, Port channels, VLANs, OSPF, MTU sizes, QoS, DHCP

• Detailed understanding of: o Codecs and wrappers o Windows, macOS and Linux operating systems

o File manasystems

• Clear understanding of fundamentals of file-based workflows, as well as transcoding, processing and delivery systems.

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

Desirable:

• Client and project management of large broadcast operations

• Previous experience with Automation Technologies, such as, Chef, Puppet or Ansible

• Previous experience with Virtualisation, KVM over IP and remote desktop systems
