All eyes were on Sydney when the region’s best basketball players converged on Sydney for the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2023. The FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2023 is Asia and Oceania’s flagship national team competition and one of the most prestigious competitions in international basketball. Approximately 100 players from 8 of the region’s best travelled to Sydney for 20 games, played across 7 days from Monday, 26 June to Sunday 2 July 2023. It was the first time that Australia has hosted the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup. Gravity Media Australia partnered with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) as the Host Broadcaster for the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2023.
Gravity Media Australia provided both production and media facilitation services for the event held at the Quaycentre at Sydney Olympic Park. Outside Broadcast truck HD1 was on site alongside one of our DSNGS trucks. The Gravity Media team provided a 10-camera set up for the 12 Group Phase Games and a 13-camera set up for the 8 Final Phase Games. This included SteadiCam and two Specialty Point Of View cameras behind the backboards. Gravity Media also provided EVS services and Audio services – featuring two commentators and courtside interviews.
China celebrated a first FIBA Women’s Asia Cup title since 2011 after beating Japan in front of a sold-out Sydney crowd in what was another fantastic advert for the competition. The Live Coverage of the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2023 was sent via our DSNG vehicle to the FIBA Master Control Room and streamed Live across the globe on the Courtside 1891 digital platform. Courtside 1891 is the official home of live and on-demand FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2023 streams.
