The Broadcast Awards ceremony is always a big night for the TV industry. Held this year on 6 February at Grosvenor House on Park Lane, the Awards recognise the best in the UK’s TV – from the most entertaining to the most thought-provoking and pretty much everything in between. It’s a night where we take great pleasure in celebrating our customers’ successes, with projects we’ve supported on the shortlist in most of the categories.

Gearhouse Broadcast was proud to be a sponsor for the second year running, and Gravity Media was there in force entertaining a number of guests from ATP Media, Sky, ITV and Discovery.

Neil Oughton, Managing Director of Input Media, shared his table with those who will play key roles in Input Media’s production of the Women’s World Cup for the BBC this summer. Guests included Alison Castle from BBC Sport, football and golf presenter Eilidh Barbour and the talent agent Jo Tongue.

It was a great night for all concerned. ITV won the award for Channel of the Year, and in the lead up to the presentation, clips were shown from numerous ITV shows, including I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! and the FIFA World Cup – two of the flagship shows Gearhouse Broadcast worked on in 2018. Later… with Jools Holland 25 also won Best Music Programme, which the Gearhouse Broadcast rental team had worked on with Maidstone to supply kit for the show.

One of the most prestigious awards is TV Moment of the Year – the award that pits the 10 most memorable TV moments against each other, as voted for by Broadcast readers. HyperActive Broadcast had worked on two of the shortlisted programmes, Killing Eve and Inside No 9, with the gong ultimately being carried off by Killing Eve (Sid Gentle Pictures for BBC One) for the moment when Villanelle breaks into Eve’s kitchen. A great show and a worthy winner.

Meanwhile, we were delighted to see a number of other productions we’ve supported nominated in other categories: BBC Biggest Weekend for Best Music Programme; 2018 FIFA World Cup (BBC Sport) for Best Sports Programme; Patrick Melrose for Best Drama Series or Serial; The Boy With The Topknot for Best Single Drama; and Britannia, Gunpowder and Liar for International Programme Sales. All in all, an impressive performance.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners alike at the Broadcast Awards 2019!
