It won’t have escaped your attention that the UK has just had a Royal Wedding. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot on 19 May 2018 in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle – an event reportedly watched by over 2 billion people worldwide.

We were there in support of Sunrise, Australia’s #1 breakfast television programme broadcast on the Seven Network. In a project that touched Gravity Media (as Gearhouse Broadcast) staff from the US, UK, and Australia, we were commissioned to facilitate a series of shows leading up to the big day.

Broadcast live from four separate locations across London (Butler’s Wharf near Tower Bridge; The Anchor pub in Southwark; the London Eye; and Buckingham Palace), and with heightened security because of the wedding, our team successfully navigated a succession of parking, personnel, and logistical challenges.

At each location we helped to facilitate the OB truck, as well as lighting, staging, satellite and transmission services, RF, autocue, comms, power and security.

And the result? We successfully managed to make air each night with all facilities, and our only disappointment is that we didn’t get a slice of the royal cake.
