Patrick Melrose is a man from the 1980s with a privileged yet traumatic childhood. His father was an abusive man, tolerated by his mother, and eventually Patrick’s childhood led him down a path to addiction and substance abuse before ultimately finding the road to recovery.

Based on the acclaimed novels by Edward St. Aubyn, the story has been turned into a five-part limited TV series that tracks Patrick (Benedict Cumberbatch) from the South of France to New York and then back home to Britain.

Post-production for the series was performed at our Frith Street facility. The team took on five rooms on the fourth floor, each kitted out with the latest Avid Media Composer Suites powered by Mac Pro Ivy Bridge Technology. Tech support was provided by our onsite engineers, who helped the Melrose team with any hardware, software or editorial support questions they may have had.

As each episode was completed, the Melrose team also used Frith Street for a series of private screenings. The guest list was a veritable roll call of the great and the good, with big names from both sides of the camera in attendance each night.

Frith Street was the perfect location to stage these events, having recently been extensively refurbed from top to bottom, and each room offering state-of-the-art facilities. A sociable bar area completes the setup, where Melrose guests relaxed with a drink after each screening.

The first episode of Patrick Melrose aired on Sky Atlantic to critical acclaim on 12th May 2018.
