FFT French Open

THE CUSTOMER

Federation Française de Tennis – the FFT – which is the host and organiser of the French Open at Roland Garros in Paris. The French Open is one of the four annual Grand Slam tennis tournaments and the only one played on clay. 

THE PROJECT

Gravity Media – then branded Input Media –  was contracted by the FFT in 2008 to produce a wide range of services from Roland Garros. These services were developed and extended over the next 10 years to include: production of two world feeds – International Super Signals (ISS) Prime and Extra; a daily ready-to-air highlights programme; individual match edits; content for digital and big screens; and other supporting services for the FFT and its broadcasters onsite.

THE APPROACH

Gravity Media’s producers and technical experts worked closely with the FFT to design a complex but flexible and robust technical hub that met all requirements. Underpinned by EVS-Avid workflows, the technical infrastructure supported two galleries and several edit suites required to deliver ISS Prime and ISS Extra to the FFT’s rights-holders around the world. The feeds came complete with English commentary, and the setup enabled fast-turnaround match highlights and the crafted daily highlights programme, along with a host of other content.

THE OUTCOME

The ISS Prime and Extra were acclaimed as among the best world feeds in any sport. The French Open was one of the world’s first high-profile events to introduce a second, complementary world feed to showcase its best action. Input Media’s talented team of producers, engineers and technicians made it happen.

On 31 October 2019, the four leading broadcast and production houses Gearhouse Broadcast, Hyperactive Broadcast, Input Media and Chief Entertainment owned by Gravity Media Group started trading under the brand name of ‘Gravity Media’. All Gravity Media companies around the world are making this transition and will now go to market as a single brand with a bold new look and purpose.
