Ahead of the launch of Gravity Media’s Thursday Networking Sessions taking place this Thursday 20 October 2022 at their Production Centre in the heart of Manchester, located in the ABC Buildings – let’s take a look at their Manchester facility and meet a few of the Gravity Media team members who will be welcoming guests this week.
Situated on the 4th floor, the 3,000 square foot space has been carefully designed to meet the high-grade technical specification needed by Gravity Media to service their broadcast clients, as well as a new base for their dedicated local equipment rental team.
The space boasts three off-tube commentary booths, two Avid Media Composer edit suites connected to the edit core for a full suite of edit services, a dedicated audio control room and two multi-suite, three-tier production galleries designed with the flexibility to integrate next-generation cloud-based, GPU-powered workflows including the likes of MAVIS and GVAMPP. There is also a large production office, collaboration, and meeting area. The ABC Building also offers a flexible workspace, café / bar, outdoor terrace, cinema, and other communal areas.
Based at Gravity Media’s Manchester Production Centre, you’ll find their Head of Production & Executive Producer, Jonathan Parry. Jonathan is an award-winning sports executive producer and programme editor for clients including ITV, Eurosport and BT Sport, Jonathan also runs Gravity Media’s office in Manchester, UK. Specialising in combat sports, including boxing and MMA, he has also led coverage of everything from darts to football and is a frequent producer of EPL studio programming for Indonesian broadcaster MOLA.
Working closely with Jonathan is Gravity Media’s Rental Manager, Lisa Smith, who looks after all broadcast and post-production projects in the North of England. Lisa is a versatile and experienced professional with over 21 years of industry experience. Before joining the Gravity Media team, Lisa previously held roles at BBC Sport, ES Broadcast, Presteigne and Procam Take 2, and has worked on several large-scale projects, including coordinating a crew of 80 at the Manchester Commonwealth Games.
Jamie Brewer, Gravity Media’s Director – Media Services and Facilities oversees their Manchester facility and is responsible for driving the strategic direction of Gravity Media’s Media Services & Facilities functions across EMEA, working towards driving collaboration across their regional offices. Since joining Gravity Media in January 2021 as Head of Broadcast & Post Production Rental, Jamie has built and led the UK rental team, promoting and driving Gravity Media’s pedigree in Equipment Rental & Sales across broadcast and post-production.
Also, part of the Gravity Media team based in Manchester is Andy Cook, their Camera Operator and Editor and Chris Hall their Producer. Andy joined Gravity Media with over 15 years of experience, working on a variety of programmes across sporting and entertainment events. Chris works as part of their skilled production team as a Producer / Director and some of his noteworthy projects include the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Recent work highlights include the team helping to relocate and set up the five-camera studio for BBC Studios working in collaboration with VERSA Studios which enabled the broadcast of the popular daytime show, BBC Morning Live. As well as, the Barclays WSL pre-season media content day, The Real Housewives of Cheshire and the FA Community Shield Preview Show.
