Gravity Media Partners With Mama Youth Project To Develop Underrepresented Talent

UK

The partnership reinforces Gravity Media’s commitment to boosting DE&I, both within its own ranks, and in the wider broadcast media industry.

London, United Kingdom, 07 September 2021: Gravity Media– the leading provider of complex live broadcast facilities and production services to content owners, creators and distributors – is delighted to announce its partnership with the MAMA Youth Project. Based in London, the project recruits 18 to 25-year-olds from underrepresented groups, including those with limited opportunity from rural areas and challenging backgrounds, and prepares them for successful careers in TV and media.

Gravity Media will work closely with the MAMA Youth Project team, contributing to its training programme and committing resources to nurturing the next generation of talent. As part of the collaboration, Gravity Media will also gain access to MAMA Youth’s dynamic pool of fully trained talent, from which it will recruit to fill relevant vacancies.

Since becoming a registered charity in 2007, the MAMA Youth Project has successfully trained 588 young people. They have gone on to work at over 100 media companies, including ITV, Sky, the BBC, Warner Bros, the Farm Group and more.

Ed Tischler, Managing Director of Gravity Media in EMEA commented: “We’ve been consistently impressed with the work of the MAMA Youth Project team. We look forward to learning from their experience as advocates and allies for greater equality and inclusion in the broadcast media industry. From what we’ve seen so far, we’re also convinced that the project’s alumni will make excellent employees and ambassadors for the growing Gravity Media brand.”

Bob Clarke, Founder and CEO of the MAMA Youth Project, added: “It’s well known that the ongoing misrepresentation and lack of representation of some backgrounds and ethnicities in the media has a negative effect on wider society. We’re on a mission to change this, and our industry partners, including Gravity Media, play a crucial role in helping us to do so. We hope our collaboration will continue for many years to come.”
