Over the past four years, Gravity Media has been facilitating Main Event boxing matches for Fox Sports in Australia with two different levels of support.
The events mainly take place in eastern states of Australia from Townsville in Queensland down through to Newcastle and Sydney in New South Wales, and to Melbourne in Victoria – even starting to go regional with Bendigo hosting an event in 2019.
The smaller fight card events mainly display up and coming talent and broadcast solely on Fox Sports. For these events where traditionally six cameras are used, Gravity Media provides the RoVa outside broadcast trucks. RoVa’s were designed, built and integrated to the highest standards and these trucks bring operational and technical advantages to productions, in a comfortable working environment.
Pre-COVID-19, the smallest boxing event Gravity Media has facilitated was held in St Kilda Town Hall in Melbourne where 200 people attended.
On the big-name exclusive events where potential “Title” holders and/or celebrities fight, Gravity Media provides one of our double expanding outside broadcast trucks – including HD 1, HD 6, or HD 8. These bouts utilise between ten to fourteen cameras and are broadcast on Foxtel’s Main Event pay per view channel.
The biggest boxing event in Australia so far was the Manny Pacquiao vs. Jeff Horn which took place at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia in July 2017. Thousands of fans gathered to watch the sold-out fight at the stadium which saw Jeff Horn win the fight by unanimous decision and claim his first world title in boxing. Gravity Media facilitated this international event.
