On Friday 20 March the Cage Warriors 113 event took place in Manchester at the BEC Arena behind closed doors. The event moved to Manchester as The O2 confirmed it was closed to events until further notice due to Covid-19.
The event was held with only fighters, coaches and event staff in attendance. With live MMA action at a premium during the current crisis, both the professional preliminary bouts and main card fights, were broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass and the action was televised by many global broadcast partners from around world.
The main card saw two UFC fighters clash in the main event, with Poland’s Bartosz Fabiński defeating Londoner Darren Stewart via unanimous decision. Also on the card brilliant Welsh protégé Mason Jones claimed the Cage Warriors lightweight belt, with a first round TKO of Joe McColgan, sending out a clear message that he could be the next talent to head to UFC ranks.
This event was possibly the last live sports event in the UK to take place before government restrictions were fully implemented and the Gravity Media UK editorial and technical team delivered an outstanding production with complete professionalism under difficult and exceptional circumstances.
Host broadcast for the event was provided by Gravity Media’s UK outside broadcast truck Pictor.
