The Gravity Media team is all set and ready for Gamescom 2019, which runs from August 20th to the 24th, after an opening-night live event on the 19th.

At Gravity Media, we’re fully geared up to support the competitive eSports industry as it goes from strength to strength and, although we’re the only eSports broadcast provider exhibiting, we’ll be in good company. Gamescom is the world’s largest gaming event by volume of exhibitors and attendees, with over 350,000 people making the trip to Cologne. It’s a mixed business and public fair with the business halls running from 20–22 August, and the public halls open from 21–24 August. So, there’s plenty of time to catch up with us (we’re in Hall 2.1 on Stand C054a) and browse everything the conference has to offer.

Some of the content is already scheduled, but there’s always a surprise to be had. Those of you in the know will recall Keanu Reeve’s appearance at E3 in June to promote Cyberpunk 2077, in which he plays a character. So, who knows what or who might pop up at Gamescom? We know Sony, who skipped E3, will be there, so perhaps there’s news on PlayStation 5, which many believe could come out in 2020. Others on the start list for announcements and coverage are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 – due for release on 25 October 2019; Fifa 2020 – due out on 27 September; Gears 5 – 10 September; and Mario Kart 9 – probably winter this year.

Major players in the industry will be rivalling each other for who can best hold the global press and delegates’ attention. Microsoft are reckoned to be hosting over 200 Xbox gaming booths; Electronic Arts have a live press conference scheduled on 20th Aug, so perhaps more information on how they’re preparing for Gen 5; and although Blizzard are not attending ahead of their BlizzCon event in November, we know others are planning to make a big splash at the conference. Riot Games will host a League of Legends Summer Cup 2019 eSport tournament on Fri 23rd, and ESL will host their Summer Championship Counter-Strike event with a ‘Beat the Legends Showdown’. There’s sketchier information on what others are up to, but we know there’ll be a feast of indoor and outdoor activities, including costume and design competitions, a garden featuring games illustrators, the Red Bull Gaming Club – a ground area where every day brings different insider talks and insights – and beach volleyball, live music and club sounds from DJs on the bigFM beach. Oh and of course the Gamescom Awards as the finale.

The exhibition features over 380 games, together with developers, technologies, components, accessories, software providers, merchandising, training, telecommunications and media players – including Gravity Media. We’re in Hall 2.1 on Stand C054a. Come and see us if you’re attending to discuss your end-to-end broadcast production needs and how you see this ecosystem continue to grow from strength to strength. We’d love to see you.

If you can’t make it, look out for our blog on the Gamescom 2019 highlights in late August, or contact us on enquiries@gravitymedia.com  or via any of our eight global offices which can be found here.
