John Currie

Head of Technology, Gravity Media (UK)

As Head of Technology, John is responsible for the research and implementation of technology for the group and assists in the development of the technical strategy for the company.

John joined Gravity Media in 2019 having previously worked for and with a number of the group’s subsidiary companies. He started his career in outside broadcast at 021 Television in 2005 which was subsequently acquired by Gravity Media. Working his way up from runner, John quickly took on responsibility for the non-linear and tapeless workflow systems on site. In 2009 John joined Gearhouse Broadcast’s projects team and over the next six years assisted with building its reputation and growing its in-house capability for non-linear workflow. He was involved in the design and delivery of a number of high profile, award winning projects and has built some of the largest EVS systems to date which have been used by customers at prestigious sporting events such as Formula 1 and the US Open.

In 2015 John co-founded Magenta Broadcast as Technical Director, a broadcast systems integrator,  before returning to Gravity Media in 2019.
