On September 2, 2020, “stern TV” celebrated its 30th anniversary — one of RTL’s most successful magazine shows in the field of information. Since the very first broadcast, the format has been closely connected with the German studios of EMG / Gravity Media.
The show started in 1990 in the then Studio 1, before later moving to Studio 6 — which remains the show’s home to this day. With Günther Jauch as long-time host, “stern TV” shaped a new style of investigative and emotional journalism on German television.
Since 2011, Steffen Hallaschka has been hosting the show, continuing its success story. “stern TV” is a weekly format — with one or more episodes as well as regular special broadcasts. Then as now, it is produced by i&u TV Produktion GmbH. We are proud to have accompanied this format from the very beginning.
