The Gravity Media team supplied eight Sony HDC-4300 camera channels and an EVS production server to CTV to cover this year’s Royal Institution Christmas Lectures. 2019 marked the 20th year of CTV’s partnership with the Royal Institute, a significant landmark supporting this wonderful seasonal television event.

The Royal Institution is an independent charity dedicated to connecting people with the world of science. The Christmas Lectures are a series of “engaging and mind-expanding” television programmes for all ages, but particularly children and young adults. The Lectures were initiated by Michael Faraday at a time when organised education for young people was scarce. He presented 19 series himself, establishing an exciting new way of presenting science to young people.

The 2019 Lectures with mathematician and presenter Dr Hannah Fry were recorded on 12, 14 and 17 December at the Ri in London’s Mayfair, and broadcast on BBC Four between Christmas and New Year. The Royal Institution also live streamed the recordings to a number of venues around the UK.
