The Third Round Proper of the Emirates FA Cup is one of the most popular weekends in the English football calendar, when Premier League teams join the fabled knock-out competition. Famed for its upsets and high sporting drama, there’s not much that can match the drama and excitement that this round regularly provides at the start of the new year. With 64 teams involved in matches throughout Saturday, Sunday and Monday night, there’s a lot of action for fans to keep on top of.
Fortunately, Gravity Media’s UK Production and Content team was on hand to deliver World Feeds from all 32 ties for The FA. These ready-to-air programmes for rights holders were complete with specially produced content, graphics and commentary. In addition, Gravity Media oversaw 21 live outside broadcasts which included the deployment of our own OB truck Pictor at Madejski Stadium for Reading vs Blackpool, and then the following day at Loftus Road for Queens Park Rangers vs Swansea City.
Two highlights shows were produced in-house at Gravity Media’s Production Centre in Chiswick, west London, with hundreds of clips from across the weekend’s action delivered for The FA to use on its social channels and digital platforms. The digital clips service provided to The FA for this year’s Third Round Proper generated a massive 80 million views on Twitter alone, in comparison to last year’s Third Round Proper which generated 46 million views across all social media channels.
Next week sees the Third Round Replays of The FA Cup take place. Gravity Media will be producing international feeds and highlights content for The FA, as well as filming at various replays for the BBC.
