Overview

Gravity Media is seeking an Audio Technician that will be responsible for ensuring the success of live broadcast events by performing the technical aspects related to broadcast audio and communications. The Audio Tech will assist in all aspects of audio production and production communications, as well as assisting in other various aspects of broadcast production when needed.

Essential Duties
  • Set up and operate equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, recording equipment, belt packs, IFBs
  • Clean audio and video equipment and store properly
  • Test and resolve equipment issues
  • Send in equipment for repairs as needed
  • Ensure adequate supply of expendables
  • Monitor sound feeds to ensure quality
  • Communicate effectively with A1 in remote location
  • Ensure equipment is installed according to designated layout
  • Perform duties as member of technical team under direction of local EIC
Desired Qualifications
  • 3 years minimum audio experience in a broadcast studio environment or news
  • Operational, hands-on experience in audio RF systems
  • Experience with the following will be an advantage: Alteros radio microphones, Shure IFB receivers and Clear-Com radio beltpacks 
  • Increasing responsibilities and skill building in audio field, preferably broadcast
  • Experience in operating, maintaining and repairing professional audio systems
  • Must be organized and communicative while handling multiple projects or requests simultaneously
  • Ability to think precisely and remain calm under pressure
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical training.
  • Strong technical/computer skills (Microsoft, Apple, A/V software)
  • Basic to advanced understanding of electricity and power management
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, reach outward or above the shoulder, stand, walk, handle with fingers, stand, bend, and stoop.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard, view a video display terminal screen, ability to use telephone equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and push or pull up to 25 pounds.
