Operating primarily from of our Chiswick office and covering our outside broadcast, venue and stadium work, our Technical Production Managers are the essential link between production and technology in ensuring these projects are planned and delivered to specification.

They must fully understand the Production department’s requirements and organise, plan and document all technical aspects for the successful delivery of the job. Additionally, they are required to provide, or organise the providing of, technical production assistance at all our onsite/OB events as required.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting, finalising, and circulating OB planning sheets/technical planning sheets for all OB truck-based work. This also includes contacting and booking OB companies and SNG providers to book the relevant resources to cover the jobs.
  • To be present, or be responsible for the cover and presence, at all on-site, outside broadcast and stadium events as required, providing technical support to the Production and Engineering teams where required.
  • To arrange and carry out site surveys of various club stadia, at various locations across the country.
  • To develop new and to maintain existing relationships with all football club media departments.
  • To line manage the supporting team of Assistant Technical Producers, including time management, holiday sign-off, workload assignment, scheduling and mentoring as required.
  • To be across the technical aspects of all the broadcast, live-event and television systems installed at Brentford FC, Wembley National Stadium and Arsenal FC, as well as other offsite venues as required and dictated by workload and concurrency.
  • To be self-sufficient on understanding the technical requirements and event-day operational procedures required for live stadia productions.
  • To be responsible for liaising with the Production Co-ordinators for the costing and budgeting of all live-event projects.
  • To undertake other relevant duties as required across the business, as assigned from time to time.
  • This will include, but not be limited to, studio work based across the Gravity Media UK locations.
  • Adhering to our company H&S policy and ensuring that all company risk assessments are observed where applicable to your role, taking ownership of improvements and escalating concerns where necessary. Contribute to the continual improvement of our management systems to ensure compliance with our legal obligations and maintain certification.
  • Hours of work are Scheduled to Requirements, 160 hours per month plus overtime or TOIL when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Higher Education with a broadcast/technology related qualification is desired, but not essential.

Competencies

  • Experience of working self-sufficiently around live-programming sports production environments.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills are mandatory.
  • This role requires the candidate to have full visibility, comprehension and understanding of the company’s upcoming work calendar in order to be able to plan ahead accordingly.
  • Excellent customer-facing skills are essential – several of the roles involve major client liaison, so interpersonal skills must be of a high level.
  • Therefore, excellent communication skills with a professional, courteous manner, smart appearance and personable manner are required.
  • A superb eye for detail is required, due to the pressures and complexities of live events and production planning.
  • The ability to line manage the less-experienced team members, and provide mentoring and training as required.
  • A flexible team-player who is happy to adapt working hours as required and willing and able to work many weekends due to the nature of the sporting calendar and business commitments.
  • Fully IT literate across all current Office 365 software applications.
  • A full, clean, UK driving licence.
  • A basic understanding of broadcast technology is desirable.

Experience

  • A minimum of two years’ experience as a technical supervisor or comparable role with within a live sports production environment.
  • OB experience is desirable.
