Role Overview

This role works hand in hand with the Operations Manager (Vic) to ensure that all projects and activity in the Company is delivered in the most effective and cost-efficient manner whilst at all times ensuring the customer needs are being met.

EMG/Gravity Media is looking for an Operations Manager, who will lead and support our talented field staff and crew who bring broadcast magic to life.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Overseeing day-to-day operations of our broadcast field teams, ensuring flawless execution on-location.
  • Managing crew schedules, assignments, and resources to meet tight deadlines with ease.
  • Acting as the vital link between production, technical teams and warehouse staff to deliver high-quality broadcasts.
  • Solving logistical puzzles – from equipment transportation to last-minute changes – with creativity and composure.
  • Mentoring and motivating our field teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence; including leave requests, team performance, coaching and development.
  • Internal management of upcoming projects and booking requests to ensure excellent client outcomes and avoid scheduling conflicts;
  • Liaise with the Workshop Engineering team and the Asset Management team to ensure facilities are in working order and ready for assigned projects;
  • Provide reports and timesheets to Finance team.
  • Maintain awareness of upcoming projects and booking requests, and forward plan to identify and prepare for any potential issues;
  • Provide project reporting, feedback, and debriefs to key stakeholders to ensure information is captured after the project has occurred.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in Technical operations (bonus points if you’ve managed field crews before!).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • A problem-solver with a “can-do” attitude, who stays calm under pressure.
  • A natural leader who communicates effectively and inspires trust in others.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard broadcast equipment and workflows.

In this management role we’ll be expecting you to

  • be the first point of contact for your team for any queries, escalations, and feedback;
  • hold regular meetings with each member of your team to align on topics, direction, information sharing, create an opportunity for the team to be heard and sense of community;
  • regularly review workload across the team to ensure efficiency and balance;
  • provide feedback to your team to allow continued growth;
  • ensure new members to your team have a thorough onboarding process including regular review during probation;
  • actively support the development of your team through action plans;
  • actively manage poor performance;
  • communicate and reinforce key business messages to your team;
  • understand key Company policies/processes and help your team to understand;
  • be responsive to requests for information to colleagues and other departments;
  • ensure your team complete all mandatory training;
  • carry out an annual performance review with each member of your team;
  • take any necessary steps to ensure that individuals are not subjected to harassment, sexual harassment, or bullying;
  • manage day to day spend in line with company objectives, direction and in the interests of the company.
