We are looking for an all-around maintenance engineer to provide technical support for Mobile Units, Fly Packs and Live broadcasts, as well as work as part of a team to maintain our technical equipment.

JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for an all-around maintenance engineer to provide technical support for Mobile Units, Fly Packs and Live broadcasts, as well as work as part of a team to maintain our technical equipment. The right candidate will be able to solve and repair systems and individual pieces of equipment, Based in our Los Angeles office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Duties involve the installation, maintenance, and repair of broadcast equipment such as field and studio cameras, switchers, audio consoles, servers, microwave and satellite receive equipment
  • Job duties may include anything from building cables to configuring routers or HD encoders
  • Install new equipment and document signal flow and wiring
  • Perform alignment and repairs of equipment
  • Solve broadcast systems
  • Work collectively in the design, construction, and execution of station engineering projects and initiatives including truck builds.
  • Work with equipment manufacturers and vendors to resolve issues, including ordering parts and services
  • Review discrepancy reports and address issues with minimal supervision
  • Assist studio and field crews with operations as needed
  • Support production and Satellite Trucks, ENG Trucks, studio equipment, including robotic cameras systems, master control, automated newsroom and automated audio and similar production systems
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance of technical equipment both software and hardware, including network systems, switches, routers, and computers
  • Experience and understanding of file formats and file- based workflows
  • Experience with Cisco switches, networking infrastructure and Microsoft Office O365 is a major plus
  • Assist the IT department with supporting Windows computers and network as needed.

EXPERIENCE PROFILE

  • HS graduate or GED required
  • 10 years relevant industry experience required
  • Must have knowledge of current production and transmission technologies and practical usage
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in equipment installation and maintenance at a television broadcast facility
  • Strong background in areas of broadcast hardware, software and experience with a digital plant
  • Great teammate and motivated
  • Experience installing, configuring and fixing studio equipment from a range of manufacturers (examples-Grass Valley, Ross, Chyron, EVS)
  • Solid understanding of IP networking, file system infrastructure, software installation/update practices and experience using FTP, telnet and terminal applications with serial interfaces
  • Strong technical background in video transmission and encoding, ingest, wireless and cellular bonded technologies, automation systems, microwave, master control, satellite, streaming, control room, IT, studio and field operations and IP technology
  • Interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate and work with other members of the engineering staff, station employees and management, and outside vendors in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to train fellow engineers in new systems, technologies, procedures and techniques
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, overtime or varying shifts when necessary to meet station needs, sometimes with little notice
  • Must understand warehouse inventory and be able to assist clients with questions on interfacing and integrating.
  • Must be able to interpret production needs and determine the technical needs to execute production requests.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to sit, reach outward or above the shoulder, stand, walk, handle with fingers, stand, bend, and stoop.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard, view a video display terminal screen, ability to use telephone equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and push or pull up to 25 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
