JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for a skilled Audio Supervisor/A1 to join our Audio Department in QC’ing the audio output across live e-sports broadcasts for League of Legends and Valorant events (among others).

As a key member of the Gravity Media production team stationed within Riot Games’ facility, the Audio Supervisor/A1 will help prepare for the arrival of incoming productions, along with working on audio output on a day-to-day basis and taking a high-level proactive approach in the delivery of audio.

The ideal candidate will lead by example in the execution of immediate audio requests while working as pat of a high performing team in a collaborative environment. The Audio Department works with the very latest Calrec desks and Riedel panels which will help to ensure the global audio output for talent, team/players, and in-game audio is of the highest quality. The Audio Supervisor/A1 will need to be a clear and confident communicator, able to adapt quickly to on-air changes and remain calm under pressure, while taking a longer view at incoming productions and events. The aim will be to ensure a quality audio presentation that informs and inspires viewers and audiences from all around the world.

In this role, the Audio Supervisor/A1 will be an integral part of the organization’s Audio Department and will report to the Service Delivery Manager. The position is based in the Greater Seattle Area and may require international travel on occasion.

The successful candidate will be assigned as on-site Gravity Media staff embedded at Riot Games’ Remote Broadcast Center. They will work across the live esports broadcasts focusing on championships and tournaments from around the world. The Audio Supervisor will be working with the latest technology in one of the most advanced remote broadcast centers in the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pre-production assignment of channels and resources to meet each production needs.
  • Input on crewing levels to meet output requirements.
  • Gramm loading of stings/idents, etc. which may include editing.
  • Building of sources through the internal router software and desk.
  • Configuring Riedel Director panelists for colleagues working in different departments.
  • Creating show assets workflows to aid a more efficient broadcast.
  • Playing audio calls in a timely and ‘live’ setting.
  • Monitoring audio levels and keep within loudness audio standards.
  • Working closely with other departments – GFX, EVS, etc. to ensure any replay packages have the correct audio levels, etc.
  • Monitoring more than one feed/broadcast at a time to ensure our level is compliant.
  • Compliance with audio copyrights to ensure no commercial track strikes on streaming platforms.
  • Offering tailored audio assistance (fitting in-ears/radio mics, etc.) to meet the needs and demands of a particular broadcast.
  • Supplying various mixes for other departments/feeds/sponsors, etc.
  • Reviewing audio of packages/recaps for the next day.
  • Refining next day workflows from team and Producer/Director feedback.
  • Loading and prepping for the next day’s broadcast.
  • Creating post show documentation, highlighting any tasks or issues from Audio.
  • Governance of all SOPs and ensuring the sharing of business/skill knowledge.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

This role is for you if you have

  • Experience leading a team
  • Experience mixing medium to large scale live events.
  • Solid understanding of AoIP, SMPTE 2110 and AES67.
  • Experienced in working with Calrec and Riedel systems.
  • Base knowledge of network engineering, with emphasis on AoIP systems.
  • Basic knowledge of audio editing software such as Ableton Live.

  • Be responsive to requests for information to colleagues and other departments; ensure your team complete all mandatory training.
  • Carry out an annual performance review with each member of your team.
  • Take any necessary steps to ensure that individuals are not subject to harassment, sexual harassment or bullying.
  • Manager day to day spend in line with company objectives, direction and in the interests of the company.
