Friday 18 December marks Qatar National Day which is celebrated annually and is also known as Founder’s Day.

To celebrate the prestigious day, the Gravity Media team was on site at one of the oldest forts in Qatar, the Al Wajbah FortLocated in the locality of Al Wajbah in Al Rayyan, it is situated 15 km west of Doha. The fort was built in 1893 and was the location of an important battle when the army of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani defeated the Ottoman army in 1893. It was used as the residence of Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani during various periods. The fort’s most prominent features are its four watchtowers which underwent restoration in the later 20th century.

Gravity Media’s outside broadcast truck Suhail provided the SNG HD uplink and downlink service for DOHA 360 channel’s Qatar National Day event. The uplink was transmitted to the Qatari owned satellite Es’hailSat1 25.5 E.

Our Qatar-based outside broadcast vehicle has been built to satisfy the growing demand for live sport, conference and cultural event coverage across the region. Suhail is a multi-functional broadcast vehicle, which can fit up to six fixed cameras and two RF cameras as well as comfortably seat a crew of seven. Find out more about Suhail here.

The Gravity Media team supplied live transmission from Monday 14 to Saturday 19 December for 24 hours a day until the end of the event. The team went live with three programmes back-to-back with the live transmission starting from 18:00hrs to 23:30hrs. During the day, recorded material was played on the DOHA 360 Channel.
